Sail away with a Coastal Bathroom

Posted on: 10th Mar 2015

Ahoy there mateys! As I looked out of my bathroom window this weekend, for the first time in a while I was actually able to spot the thin blue band that marks the sea. Whilst I'm lucky to live on the coast and command such a view, most days I normally find the sea and sky simply blur into one grey mass, so this was a very pleasant surprise indeed! As I stood there at my basin, peering at the boats on the horizon, it got me thinking about the design of my bathroom and how I could apply some coastal style to it. Shipshape and Full of Fashion A luxury bathroom is certainly a place to escape to, free from the stress of everyday life. However, by adding a theme to your design, like a nautical style, you can make your escape far more literal, by giving your bathroom the look and feel of a cosy holiday cottage by the coast. These days, the nautical theme is certainly a popular choice. Whether this is to do with the link between the sea and water is unclear - but when we think of nautical style we almost certainly start to think about fun. Our imagination can almost run away with us! No matter how large or small your bathroom is, it's a design that can be achieved in almost any space! Make sure your Colour Palette isn't all at sea! The colour scheme for a nautical style bathroom is typically based around the suitably named navy blue and white. However you certainly shouldn't feel restricted just to these. Sea green, turquoise, sand and bone can all evoke the tones and colours of the coast. However you can go in different directions with your nautical theme

3 Top Design Tips for Planning your New Bathroom

Posted on: 5th Mar 2015

Planning a bathroom renovation can be a daunting task, so Ruth Corbett, Houses Editor for Ideal Home magazine, has teamed up with VictoriaPlumb. com to give you the three most important tips to consider when planning your bathroom design. A brand new bathroom can change your life, you may have a house full of mirror hogging teenagers or perhaps you’re dreaming of a brand new storage system? Whatever your plans, do your homework and do it thoroughly, it will pay off in the long run. Tip 1 – Choose your layout Firstly, look at your current layout, consider your needs and make a wish list. Remember, sometimes just changing the fixtures and fittings can be as effective as a whole new refit. If you do want a complete change, decide what you’d like in the space, including storage and measure up carefully, noting fixed items. Bathrooms are increasingly luxurious, so you might consider a freestanding bath, if you have space for a separate shower, a corner is an ideal spot for it. For small rooms, wall mounted basins and toilets allow you to see more open floor, which makes the room feel much more spacious. Tip 2 – Decide on the look and details Take some time to explore different ideas and see what’s out there, so you can find a look that suits you and your home. VictoriaPlumb

Reclaiming your Bathroom after a Break Up - 6 Top Tips

Posted on: 20th Feb 2015

OK. So we've indulged in the schmaltzy romance of Valentine's Day, but as we all know the course of love never runs smooth. Inevitably, some relationships run their course and end in a break up. The majority of us, at one time in our lives, have ended up calling it a day with a boyfriend or girlfriend, or worse, been unceremoniously dumped! Whether this leaves you feeling down in the dumps, relieved or even ecstatic, one huge positive can be taken out of the situation: Your new found freedom means you can now revamp all your living spaces - starting with your bathroom! When the heartbreak is at its worst, there is nothing more therapeutic than getting things back to the way you like them. So if you're newly single, now's the time to swing into action and follow our 5 top tips to reclaim your space! 1. Get that scrubbing brush out! If you've ever heard of the famous song "I'm gonna wash that man right out of my hair" from the musical South Pacific - the sentiment is more than accurate when it comes to your bathroom! A good day of cleaning and cleansing will certainly help scrub the place clean, free of any lasting traces of your ex-partner. It's extremely therapeutic! Get those rubber gloves on and get into the grouting with a mix of bleach and water (use his/her old toothbrush if they left it behind!). Wipe all your surfaces clean and scrub your taps, windows and mirrors to ensure a sparkling finish. And for heavens sake, throw away any old toiletries or reminders of your ex! You certainly don't want an old deodorant canister as a permanent reminder of your lost love! 2. Reclaim your Style Did your ex dominate the bathroom design with their own tastes and furnishings? In most cases a shared bathroom has to be fairly neutral when it comes to decor

Designer suites for all environments

Whenever you’re designing your new bathroom it’s important to find a range that totally suits the space as well as your personal preferences. There are a number of design challenges that you’ll face, particularly in a smaller room where small suites will be needed, because you need to make sure that you’ve got bathroom sets that fit seamlessly into their new environment.

Suites for small bathrooms are available and are perfect for compact rooms that are short on space, but this doesn’t mean you have to settle for second best. Small bathroom suites are simply economical in their design to ensure you get the most from your room, with shower bath suites being a common request. The great thing about shower baths is that you can still get a sleek and contemporary look without having to opt for a separate shower cubicle, and with small bathroom suites such as this you’ll feel that your room is much bigger than it actually is.

Bathroom suites for every price range

It’s important to be selective. You want to make sure you’ve got the best room possible, so choosing a suite that suits the room and your style is a huge consideration. You might like to opt for separate shower enclosures or perhaps you want a roll top bath for traditional glamour. When shopping to a tight budget you'll be surprised by what you can achieve at Victoria Plumb. Take a look through our lowest price bathroom suites and turn your bathroom dreams into reality.
