5 Questions you should ask before buying a Shower Enclosure or Bathtub

    Posted on: 2nd Apr 2014

Your choice of whether you install a shower enclosure or a bathtub will have an enormous effect on your mornings every day for years to come, so you need to decide very carefully exactly which is best for you. There are many factors to consider when deciding between the two, relating to the design and proportions of your bathroom, your personal needs, your family’s needs and your preferences. Here is a breakdown of the five key questions to ask yourself, to help you make this essential decision: 1. How much space do you have available? Some bathrooms simply won’t be able to accommodate a full-size bathtub and you need to look at the proportions of the bathtubs on the market and measure your space carefully to see if any can fit. If your bathroom is of a certain size, you may simply have to install a shower enclosure rather than a bathtub. 2. Do you even need to choose? If you have space available for a full-size bathtub and don’t want to limit yourself, a shower fixed above the bathtub, with an accompanying shower bath installed, may be the perfect compromise. 3. What are you realistically going to need? Some live fast-paced, busy lifestyles and simply don’t have the time to take a relaxing bath every morning. If you’re one of these racy individuals, you don’t want to cut yourself off from the time-efficiency of a shower enclosure

Double-ended Bath or Roll Top: Which Bath Tub is right for me?

    Posted on: 26th Mar 2014

A morning shower can be great for waking yourself up and for a quick and convenient clean, but there's nothing quite like a luxurious bath at the end of a busy day. Many modern bathrooms have both, or even combine the two in a space-saving shower bath. The right bath for you will depend on a number of factors. Personal tastes, requirements and practical issues such as the space you have available, mean that there's no single bathing solution that's perfect for everybody. Double-ended baths and roll top baths offer stylish and luxurious options for bathrooms of all styles and sizes. What is a Double-ended Bath? A double-ended bath can be comfortably used in either direction. This means that a single bather can sit at either end or alternatively two bathers can use the tub at the same time – perfect if you have children who require a daily bath. Double-ended baths come in a wide variety of styles and sizes but a common feature is that the plug and taps are generally situated in the centre, meaning nobody gets 'the tap end' with an uncomfortable plug to sit on! What is a Roll Top Bath? The 'roll top' of a roll top bath refers to the rim of the tub, which curves gently with no sharp edges. This rounded edge gives a pleasing aesthetic effect and can also be more comfortable getting in and out of the bath. Beyond this distinctive rounded edge, roll top baths come in a wide variety of shapes and styles and can be made of different materials

    Celebrate Bubble Bath Day!

    Posted on: 8th Jan 2014

Did you know today is actually Bubble Bath Day?! According to Punchbowl. com: People have been enjoying warm baths for thousands of years. In Ancient Rome, bathing at a public facility was part of the daily routine for most citizens. A trip to the Roman baths might include a dip in the caldarium (hot tub), a brief break in the laconicum (sauna), and a refreshing swim in the frigidarium (cold pool). It’s important to indulge in a luxurious soak every once in a while. A bubble bath can help open up your pores, cleanse your skin, and relax muscles. ” So who are we to argue with thousands of years of tradition? Why not jump into a nice deep, warm bath, with plenty of bubbles.   Relax with a cheeky glass of wine (forget those New Year’s resolutions for a few hours!), put on some soothing music and break out the candles, for some peaceful “me time”! If your bath tub isn’t the most welcoming, take a look at some of our stunning freestanding, roll top baths – the absolute height of luxury but at very affordable prices. What exactly is a Slipper Bath?

    Posted on: 19th Jun 2013

So called because of its shape, the slipper bath is an iconic style of bathtub that originated in the Victorian era.  At this time, bathing and cleanliness were acknowledged as easy ways to improve health and reduce disease. The slipper baths were initially found in washhouses and bathhouses, where the working classes could finally bathe alone with either hot or cold water.  Later, slipper baths found their way into the home and are still popular today thanks to modern plumbing systems. A Public Bath Traditionally, the bath has one end deeper than the other, with the taps located at the shallower end to give the bather space to relax at the other. This also affords them a certain amount of privacy, which was very useful when they were found in public washhouses, and kept the water warmer for longer. Unlike most modern bath units, slipper baths tend to be designed as free-standing units and look good placed in the centre of a bathroom.  The edge of the bath usually has a rolled top to make getting in and out easier and the unit stands upon feet to raise it from the floor. A variation on this common style is the “double” slipper bath (also known as a “boat” bath) where both ends are high and the centre dips, resulting in a symmetrical form. Modern Slipper Baths While originally made from cast iron with an enamel coating, slipper baths are now available in a variety of materials; from copper to ceramic and even stone or wood
