The modern toilets do not have an external overflow they are built to go back into the pan if overflowing occurs.

We have recently had a new bathroom fitted. The toilet has a push button flush.

We have noted that the existing overflow pipe through the wall has been removed.

Do the modern cisterns not require an overflow ?

Hello Linda,

Your plumber should really be aware of the legal regulations with regards to fitting the waste pipe from a bidet, if not it is probably best to contact your local council building department.

Please can you tell me the building regulations about fitting the waste pipe from a bidet. A plumber has just fitted a bidet for us. He has connected the waste pipe to the waste pipe from the washbasin, before it joins the main soil pipe. Is this ok? Thanks. Linda Taylor
