Hot Tub Cleaning page 3
RATING: EASY
Whichever brush you use, apply a squirt of tile soap directly to the brush
and start scrubbing. Remember, don't use
soaps not designed for tile work as they
will foam up. I carry a foam kneepad,
available at any gardening store, and
work my way around the hot tub. Scrub
below the waterline as well as above.
Evaporation and refilling mean the waterline
is rarely always at the same level, so
clean the entire tile line.
5. Check the Equipment Review the circulation system by following the path of the water.
- Since you have already skimmed and
cleaned the tile, you can now clean
out the hot tubs skimmer basket without
concern that it will fill up again while
you work.
- Next, open the pump strainer basket
and clean that. If the puirly has a
clear lid, you may be able to observe
whether this step necessary. Reprime
the pump.
- Check the pressure on the filter.
If the pressure is high, the filteerr
may need cleaning.
- Look over the heater for leaves or
debris. Look inside to ma: sure rodents
haven't nested and to verify the pilot
light is sti operating (if the unit
is a standing pilot type). Turn the
heater mr and off a few times to make
sure it is operating properly.
- Check the time clock. Is the time
of day correct? Is the setting fc the
filter run long enough for prevailing
conditions? Alway check the clocks,
because trippers come loose and power
fluc tuations or outages can play havoc
with them.
