Hot Tub Cleaning page 4
RATING: EASY
- At each step of the equipment check,
look for leaks or other early signs
of equipment failure.
- Clean up the equipment area itself.
Remove leaves from around the motor
vents and heater to prevent fires; clear
deck drains of debris that could prevent
water from draining away from the equipment
during rain.
6. Vacuum the hot tub If the hot tub is not dirty or has only a light "dusting" of dirt, you may be able to brush the walls and bottom, skipping the vacuuming completely. Otherwise you have two ways to clean it: vacuuming to the filter or vacuuming with the hot tub vac.
A. Vacuum to the Hot Tub Filter As the term implies, vacuuming to the filter means the dirt is collected from the hot tub and sent to the circulation system's filter.
- Make sure the circulation system
is running correctly. If the system
includes valves for diversion of suction
between the main drain and skimmer,
completely close the main drain valve
and turn the skimmer valve completely
open.
- Attach your vacuum head to the telepole,
and attach the vacuum hose to the vacuum
head. Working near the skimmer, feed
the head straight down into the hot
tub with the hose following. By slowly
feeding the hose straight down, water
will fill the hose and displace the
air. When you have fed all the hose
into the hot tub, you should see water
at the other end (which should now be
in your hand).
