There are around 20 fatalities every year as a result of hot bath water scalding. The most vulnerable to hot water scalding are the young and the elderly as the skin is thinner making it more perceptible to scalding injuries.

According to a report on the TMVA website “Hot bath water is responsible for the highest number of fatal and severe scald injuries in the home.” Figures also show that a massive 75% of severe scalds are suffered by children under the age of 5 and a staggering 75% of fatalities being of people aged 65+.
